3 Week Old Puppies
At 3 weeks of age, Golden Retriever puppies start becoming especially adorable, and they are still developing and growing rapidly. In this article, we will explore what a three-week-old golden retriever looks like, and what you can expect from them at this age. Photos below.
Appearance
At three weeks old, a golden retriever puppy will typically weigh around 2 to 4 pounds and measure about 5 to 6 inches tall. They are still small and delicate, with short legs and plump, round bellies. They have very soft fur that is still short and not yet the thick, luxurious coat that they will develop as adults.
At this age, their eyes and ears have recently opened, and they will be able to move around and interact with their littermates. Their sense of smell is already well-developed, and they will be able to use their noses to find their mother’s milk. They may even begin to start eating puppy food, usually mashed and mixed with milk replacement or water.
Development
At three weeks old, a golden retriever puppy is still in the early stages of development. They will spend most of their time sleeping and eating, but they will also be starting to explore their surroundings and interact with their littermates.
Socialization is critical at this age, and it is essential to ensure that your puppy is in a safe and nurturing environment. Interacting with their mother and littermates is vital for their emotional and social development, as it helps them to learn about their place in the world and develop a strong sense of security and confidence.
Health
At three weeks old, golden retriever puppies should be healthy and begin growing rapidly soon. It is important to ensure that your puppy is receiving the proper nutrition, either from their mother’s milk or a high-quality puppy formula if they are not able to nurse.
You should also be aware of any potential health issues that could affect your puppy, such as infections or parasites. Your veterinarian can provide guidance on the proper care and treatment of any health issues that may arise.
Summary
A three-week-old golden retriever is a tiny bundle of joy, with a round belly and soft fur that is a joy to cuddle, but not too much. As your puppy continues to grow and develop, it is important to provide a safe and nurturing environment that supports their physical, emotional, and social development. By ensuring that they receive proper healthcare and nutrition, you can help them grow into healthy and happy adult dogs that bring joy to your life for years to come.

Our Past Litter at 3 Weeks Old
The puppies are growing and moving. Last week we had our 2 week update. We put a few photos up last week there. Below is this weeks milestones.
Week 3 Milestones Specific to This Litter
This week day 17 was a big day for them. It was evident that the puppies could hear. They responded to sound when walking near them. On the same day we found the puppies sitting in a normal sitting position. Most of the puppies could be seen gnawing on their siblings. Their world expanded from themselves to recognizing all their siblings’ existence. A couple of them began to play with each other. Eric and Aquata were the first to climb in my lap on the same day. Since their interaction increased Johanna was also able to play with them more.
This week they also started to run in a wobbly manner. Many of their sounds resemble barks now. Day 19 their teeth began to appear. We also introduced them to toys to activate their senses a bit. At the end of the week, we put out our puppy play gym. They are already mastering climbing over and under obstacles. Lastly of course they are much bigger.
We did add a couple of photos to last week’s post after the update. Check them out if you didn’t see them. Below are their weights and various other information.
