This weekend was Jolene’s and my 9th anniversary. We decided to go to Laguna Beach for the weekend. Laguna is a very dog friendly town, so we thought we would take our fur family as well.
We stayed at Pacific Edge Hotel. We’ve stayed there a few times before over the years. It’s not the best hotel ever, but it does have a nice location. We’ve taken dogs there before. However, this was the first time Tina and Alice got to go. They had fun going on numerous walks, digging in the sand, playing in water, and stairing at wildlife. A few bird chases took place as well. Many of the businesses in town have water and food for dogs outside their doors. A couple of restaurants allow you to bring your dogs inside and serve them as well.
Walking through the city we got a lot of pleasant remarks about our golden retrievers. Not too many people are familiar with the English standard. Many are perplexed to find out that they are golden retrievers. It’s always an educating experience for others when we go out in public.
About 17 miles north of the hotel is a dog beach. Huntington Beach has a large dog beach where all dogs are allowed to go off leash. So we took them for some fun time in the sun, even if it is winter sun. They had a blast making new friends. Tina experienced throwing up after drinking the salt water. Something we will have to pay attention to in the future. It had little effect on Alice. Some dogs are more susceptible to salt than others.
Hopefully we will be able to return with our entire pack. Below are photos that Jolene and I took of our three days there. We hope you enjoy.
