Last night we finally got to take our littlest pack member home. The last time we brought a puppy home many years ago it was an ordeal. They cried and kept us up all night for a couple days. This time it was a different story. We brought our little English cream golden retriever home and we played with her for a while. Then we showed her around the house and outside. Gave a her place to eat and showed her the igloo we had.
Tina hasn’t used the igloo we have. She is scared of it. I’m not sure but I think it is because it reminds her of the crate she was shipped in. Alice seemed to like it. Since it wasn’t cold outside we decided to leave them both outside. When I shut the door I was expecting to hear her cry or bark. I was mistaken. Through the night I only heard one bark. That was coming from the neighbors dog. When I woke up this morning I went to check on them. I opened the door to find Alice waking up inside the igloo. She seems to have found her safe house.
I’m sure it won’t be bells and whistles from here on out. However, it seems so far things have gone great. We had lots of time to play with her today. In between her dog naps of course. She loves to chew. She is a little vacuum for everything small on the ground. We swept the floor twice before she got here, but she seems to still find things to put in her mouth. I know most people crate train, but in our case so far it has worked perfectly to try a different method. She already goes potty outside, except for the one mistake last night when the door was shut.
Below are a few photos we took of her today.
